War in Donbas
Since 2014 Ukraine has defended its borders against aggression from Russian-led forces in its eastern Donbas region.
The contact line is 457 kms long, the same distance as London to Paris.
The resulting conflict has affected over 4.4 million people. More than 13,000 have been killed and nearly 30,000 injured, with approximately 3,300 of the dead being civilians.
Thousands more have had their homes and lives destroyed.
These figures rise daily.
