Tex Woodward and the Spaniourum Farm Gymnasium

Tex Woodward began boxing in 1947 as a way of keeping fit. Despite being a very talented young footballer, his training and competitiveness led him to become a successful amateur boxer.

After joining the RAF, he became a Physical Training Instructor and continued to box, winning various boxing championships including the prestigious 'Britannia Shield'.

While in 'service' he trained many boxing champions and was the Commonwealth Games coach for the Ghana boxing team in 1958 and Welsh team in 1962.

Leaving the RAF, he boxed professionally for a brief time, then set up the Spaniorum Farm Gymnasium in South Gloucestershire, where he coached and managed many more champion boxers.
