St. Michael's Mount is a rocky island just south of Penzance in Cornwall, England.
It is surmounted by a fortress-like abbey dedicated to St. Michael the Archangel, who in Cornish Legend; appeared to a group of Cornish fishermen in 495 AD - standing high on a rocky ledge on the western side of the Mount.
